32 - Induction
My wife is being induced with our second child tonight (yes, I am writing this while my wife packs the “go-bag”) I look forward to hearing all your thoughts on this issue of my newsletter, but I will be MIA for a while to be with my family.
I was at two Cons in the last month, here are the winners of the raffles
The FairFax Con winner is: Gabe D
The DragonCon winner is: Shantel R
Reply to this email with your mailing addresses and I will send you your original art prizes.
Here are some of the many commissions I illustrated at DragonCon.
I had a great weekend networking at DragonCon. I showed my portfolio to several big hitters in the industry and they gave me glowing reviews. I look forward to the possible work that can emerge from these new contacts.
I finally got Stan the Green Flamingo printed!
It is available for purchase for $15 (+S/H) It includes a free Sketch. If you want a copy, send me an email or DM. My online shop is down so I’m going old school. Here is a video of me doing one of the sketches at DragonCon. (Again… baby is coming tomorrow, so don’t expect an overnight shipment.)
Ummm, well, there is the baby… So that’s pretty much the biggest thing on my upcoming list.
READ: Park Bench
This is a 327-page silent comic that tells about a dozen stories simultaneously.
WATCH: Sandman
Streaming on Netflix. This show is a fantastic adaptation of the comic. Above you can see one of the many comics panels alongside the recreation in the comic. It boasts phenomenal dialogue. Episode 6 covers the entire Hob Gadling storyline and it honestly gave me chills.
LISTEN: Atlanta Braves
The Braves have caught up to the Mets. Now it is a race to the finish line! I am really enjoying listening to games while I work. If you want to listen along you can listen to every game for free on 680 the Fan!
My wife is having a baby… tomorrow… sooooo I can’t really think of anything else.
But I will note that my child (soon-to-be children) has been the greatest thing to ever happen to me. Some people say that I should have waited till I was “financially stable” to have kids. But the truth for me is that my children constantly push me to make more and better work. More responsibility has driven me to work harder.
All that said, here’s to two weeks off while I take care of my wife and family. More to come in October, the spooky month!
Cheers,
&
