24 - New
Art Exclusive
I have big goals and am working on building new habits this year to spend more time in my sketchbook doing all sorts of studies, value, figure, texture… I am very excited to create some new art this year.
Completed
-GRAPHESIS-
Calling it complete is a little misleading, but, I did finish the 66 Graphesis pages that I had to complete before the end of the year. It was pretty grueling, I was working 12-14 hour days for most of December. But I did get some good time off once I finished the pages. Here are some of my favorite pages.
Current
-1313 ANGLER DRIVE-
I am going to submit 1313 Angler Drive to the Creators for Creators Grant. The due date is 3/31 so I need to finish the pitch packet and illustrate 5 sequential pages before then. Some concept art.
-PROJECT PURPLE-
Not to ever be found with an empty plate I have a new idea that I am going to start developing under the title Project Purple, it is a short 10-12 page fan comic. More details to come. Here is a concept sketch that might give it away…
-PAINTING-
I am planning another painting, I only have the rough pencils and I threw some color over it in photoshop to get a preview of what it will look like. This character is Deadman from DC comics. I love a green and red color scheme, it is just so often associated with Christmas that it can be difficult to break away from that connection.
-CON PREP-
I took a look at my Convention schedule for the year and I am super excited. I am confident that this year most of them will take place, so I need to prepare for that. I need to get more business cards and I plan to revamp my print offerings and make some new stickers.
Upcoming
I have two major hooks cast out into the ether and I am waiting for a bite. I have had some strong nibbles that have me still waiting and occasionally rebaiting but I am confidently expecting to hook a big one soon. (I love being vague if you haven’t noticed.)
Art Lesson
-LINEAR PERSPECTIVE-
Part I
I got On Painting by Leon Battista Alberti for Christmas. It is one of the earliest essays on linear perspective. Alberti was a contemporary of Massacio and Brunelleschi, the other two “fathers” of linear perspective.
One Point Perspective is the most basic perspective that we observe in the world and it is what Massacio used in Tribute Money to create the illusion of depth.
Philosophical Rant
I don’t feel ranty today-
wait yes I do!
No. I actually don’t. I just need to get drawing, I’m feeling creative but not spending any of that creative energy so I’m going to stop writing this nothing rant and get to it. Cheers,
A
